OUTDOOR LEARNING

Outdoor education disrupts routine, it breaks patterns, it distorts time, it changes roles, and it creates expectations; going outdoors can disrupt, break, distort, change and create.

Going outdoors is first and foremost a change of environment and a change from the normal way of doing, thinking, feeling and behaving when learning. Simply crossing the threshold and leaving the normal educational environment (U-shape, Video projector and Flipchart) is a significant step into other ways of learning and development.

The outdoors is certainly conductive to thinking new thoughts and exploring new possibilities. The outdoors is not just a breath of fresh air: it is a change of perspective.

Outdoor Learning as a purposeful and planned experience in the outdoors. It’s a broad term that includes discovery, experimentation, learning about and connecting to the natural world, and engaging in outdoor sports and adventure activities.

Outdoor adventure is a source of huge variety of valuable experiences. Some produce more identifiable learning than others, some are difficult to express or explain so some experiences are best left untouched. The reviewing of most experiences can, of course, bring out valuable learning. We should be aware of the diversity of valuable experiences that can happen outdoors and we should be smart enough to respond in appropriate ways to each kind of experience.

We have delivered hundreds of exceptional outdoor adventures. The results are life-altering, career-defining leadership breakthroughs that become possible when training is an experience with its own spirit of adventure.
